Touch cells, also known as mechanoreceptors, are specialized cells in the skin that detect mechanical pressure and vibrations. They play a crucial role in our sense of touch, allowing us to feel the texture, shape, and temperature of objects.
Touch cells are important for our physical and emotional well-being. They help us navigate our environment, avoid danger, and communicate with others through touch. They also play a role in our social interactions, as touch can convey emotions such as love, comfort, and support.
Research has shown that touch can have a positive impact on our mental and physical health. It has been linked to reduced stress, improved immune function, and increased feelings of happiness and well-being. Touch therapy is even used as a form of alternative medicine to promote healing and relaxation.
So how can we simulate these sensory receptors :
Mechanoreceptors are sensory receptors that respond to mechanical stimuli such as pressure, touch, vibration, and stretch. To maximize their use, you can engage in activities that stimulate these sensations, such as:
- Massage therapy: Massage therapy involves applying pressure and manipulating the body’s soft tissues, which can activate mechanoreceptors and promote relaxation and pain relief.
- Exercise: Certain types of exercise, such as weightlifting and resistance training, can stimulate mechanoreceptors in muscles and joints, leading to improved strength, flexibility, and proprioception (the ability to sense one’s body position and movement).
- Yoga and stretching: Yoga and stretching involve holding poses and stretches that can activate mechanoreceptors in muscles and joints, leading to improved flexibility, balance, and body awareness.
- Tactile stimulation: Tactile stimulation involves using different textures and materials to stimulate the skin and activate mechanoreceptors. Examples include using a foam roller, ball, or textured mat during exercise or using a variety of fabrics and textures during sensory play.
- Mindfulness practices: Mindfulness practices such as meditation and deep breathing can help increase awareness of bodily sensations, including those detected by mechanoreceptors.
Locomobi World Inc. offers “ sensory” interfaces in vehicles “ To Enrich Your Daily Journey”.
On average, drivers reported making 2.2 driving trips per day, spending 50.6 minutes on the road, and driving 31.5 miles. Projecting these results to all drivers nationwide, U.S. drivers made an estimated total of 186 billion driving trips, spent 70 billion hours driving, and drove 2.62 trillion miles in 2016.
So it would be safe to say that if there are applications that can enhance the drive to help circumvent stress and calm the nerves this would improve the overall driving experience and life of people’s lives. Locomobi’s recent interface with “Project Arrow”, Canada first celebrated smart zero-emissions concept car, has developed applications to make the journey in the car less stressful while streamlining the journey time. In addition, this supports the fabric sensors that are part of the design of the car that can help the health and sensory aspects of the driver and its passengers.
Locomobi World is also developing a Hybrid model that can be added to ICE and other legacy vehicle models.
