We are pleased to announce that Eric Peissel, Executive Vice President, Advisory and Innovation and Global Manager, T&I Networks, and Lucy Casacia, Vice President Smart Solutions at WSP, will be the next guest speakers on TheSmartCity.Blog podcast on March 17th, 2021, and will discuss what transformational events in the past have helped cities prepare for the future? What are the largest obstacles to meaningful change in cities? How has the current pandemic changed the landscape? What are the critical issues? And how do they see the new normal?
Eric Peissel is a graduate of McGill’s School of Urban Planning. His background is in transit and transportation planning having worked on projects throughout Canada, the US and internationally. He has been with WSP for 20 years with varying roles throughout the organization in diverse geographies and is currently the Global Manager, Transportation & Infrastructure and Executive Vice President, Advisory and Innovation.
Eric is responsible for leading WSP’s team of experts in solving challenges faced by organizations and clients as a result of changing economic conditions, shifting government priorities, and emerging technologies. He also connects the firm’s global subject matter experts in the Transportation and Infrastructure space in order to shape the current state of the practice.
Eric Peissel has guest lectured at McGill University, University of Waterloo, University of Montreal and University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM).
Lucy is an industry leader in creating strategies to adopt technology solutions across multiple sectors including manufacturing, smart cities, mining, and utilities.
She joined WSP as the Vice President of Smart Solutions to create client support and develop strategy for intelligent and connected infrastructure, smart manufacturing, and sustainability pursuits through digitalization.
Previously, she held senior roles with Siemens Canada, most recently as VP Cities and Infrastructure Projects, leading the Canadian Smart Cities practice to deliver intelligent infrastructure solutions to major public and private clients in Canada. Additional experience in deploying technology in the industrial sector comes from her superintendent role at an operational mine where she led the engineering and capital projects team.
Lucy currently sits on the board of directors for the Oakville Enterprise Corporation (including Oakville Hydro), City of Vaughan Smart Cities Task Force and Ontario Chamber of Commerce. Lucy earned her B.Sc. Metallurgy & Materials Science from McMaster University and Strategic Leadership certification from Schulich (York University). Lucy volunteers with the Institute for Electric and Electronics Engineers Women in Engineering and is a member of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE).
